When I upgrade Auto 3in1, will I loose all my data?

The data files are not deleted during an upgrade however with Windows Mobile 5, the program is uninstalled then reinstalled, this causes your setup file to be replaced and that may appear to have deleted the data.  Here are the steps to prevent this

DESKTOP EDITION  To install, follow these steps:

  • Backup your data

  • Install the update / upgrade

  • Restore your data

If you are nervous about loosing data, copy all of the files in the desktop folder C:\Program Files\Pocketfleet\Auto 3in1\Data\ to a floppy or CD, This will put a copy of your data out of the reach of any accidental deletion.  In the unlikely event that the data is erased by the upgrade process, you can then copy it back.

If the data appears to be missing, don't panic, don't uninstall and reinstall, contact pfsupport@rogers.com attach all of the files from your backup folder to the email

POCKET PC EDITION  To install, follow these steps:

  • Backup your data using the FULL BACKUP option

  • Install the update / upgrade

  • Restore the data using the FULL RESTORE option

If you are nervous about loosing data, copy all of the files in the Pocket PC folder My Documents\3in1 Files to an SD or CF card. (Copy not move), This will put a copy of your data out of the reach of any accidental deletion.   In the unlikely event that the data is erased by the upgrade process, you can then copy it back.

IF YOU ALREADY UPGRADED AND YOUR VEHICLES ARE NO LONGER LISTED

  • Copy all of the files in your data folder and send them to pfsupport@rogers.com
    • For the desktop the default folder is C:\Program Files\Pocketfleet\Auto 3in1\Data\
    • For the Pocket PC the default folder is My Documents\3in1 Files
  • Provide a list of the vehicles you had set up, the list should look like this
    • Display Name
    • Make
    • Model
    • VIN Number

Pocketfleet will recreate the setup files and send them back to you and your data should be back to normal.

Pocketfleet is not responsible for lost data, it is your responsibility to backup your data and retain original input data.  A lack of hard drive media, battery life concerns and third party interaction with data files places the security of data on a Pocket PC at risk, frequent program and system backups are your best defense against data loss.
